Officers who earned the Distinguished Officer Award last year carried out their responsibilities admirably and exemplified Builders Club values, leadership and engagement with members. Here’s what some people who nominated awardees said about their officers:

  • Club president Veronica: In the Kealakehe Intermediate School Builders Club in Hawaii, U.S., Veronica facilitated every Builders Club meeting, using Robert’s Rules. The officer facilitated the creation of club committees and consistently checked in with committees, helping them problemsolve when needed. 
  • Club vice president JoeThe president of St. Mary’s Builders Club in Illinois, U.S., said that Joe supported me in running the meetings, passing out supplies, attending and participating in events, assisting with committees, keeping order in meetings and running the meetings when I was not able to be present.” 
  • Vice president LyleThe faculty advisor of Christ the King Builders Club in Vermont, U.S., reported that Lyle filled in for the president as needed, knew each member and assisted in every stage of all service projects. Lyle’s ideas were integral to each project the club carried outand he checked in on new members and stayed after meetings to clean up and prepare for the next week’s meeting. 
  • Club secretary MayabellaA member of the Builders Club of St. Raymond School in California, U.S., shared that Mayabella took attendance notes at meetings, created posters for events and made sure everyone’s ideas are heard and taken into account. 
  • Club treasurer Caleb: In the Kraft Meadows Intermediate Builders Club in Michigan, U.S., Caleb counted money raised during fundraisers, reported on financial updates at meetings and discussed expenditures with advisors and officers. Above that, the faculty advisor reported, Caleb was “confident but kind,” always arriving early and offering help with tasks days before an event.
