What haven’t they done?

The Builders Club at Avalon Middle School , with help from its sponsoring Kiwanis Club of East Orange County, had a busy start to the year. Almost 30 prospective members attended the club’s first meeting, electing officers, and coordinating an “Ice Rescue” event to collect items for two local pet-rescue organizations.

At a Healthy Husky Day event, Builders Club members helped the two organizations—Lotsa  Love Rescue and Faith, Hope and Love Rescue—by  setting up, running games and helping with cleanup.

Other activities during the year include participating in: Education Day at Waterford Lakes Town Center; the Orange County Kick Off for Relay for Life at the ELC; Walk for Autism at Disney’s Wide World of Sports; and selling bracelets for Breast Cancer awareness month.

The club’s ongoing project is Avalon’s Big Give collection of new hats and scarves for cancer patients. For more information, check out the school’s Web site. The site also includes information about PAWS for a Cause and the upcoming Relay for Life activities.
