| Builders Club is open to any middle school student who
wants to join. Each club and school principal has the latitude to set
conditions for membership, so it varies from club to club. Generally,
any student who is interested in performing community service may join
Builders Club. Not all middle schools have a Builders Club, though. Each
Builders Club is co-sponsored by a Kiwanis club and the middle school.
If
no Builders Club exists in the school, perhaps you can start one. It isn’t
hard. You simply contact a local Kiwanis club and your school principal
and ask if they’d like to get involved. Once they agree, invite as many
of your friends to join as you want. If you’re not sure how to go about
doing all that, you can always place a free call to the "Start a Builders
Club Hotline" at 1-800-549-2647, extension 390, or e-mail.
Kiwanis International can send you material
to help you get started.
In addition to a Kiwanis club, a Builders Club may be co-sponsored by
a Key Club or a Circle K club. If the nearest high school has a Key Club
or a local college has a Circle K club, you have a great resource for
starting a club and recruiting members.
